Woodsy Baby Girl Quilt

I started this quilt before WAY before the holidays and finally decided it was time to get it off my to-do table…

I used my favorite, go-to fat quarter pattern from Two Little Banshees. I love this pattern! Quick, easy and so fun to make it unique!

I decided to appliqué this brightly colored quilt with some woodsy little cut outs. I also love the way the yellow gingham binding looks on it!

  Quilting inside each block with a 1/2” border is just as easy but more visually appealing than stitching “in the ditch”.

I think I want to try a boy version of this quilt someday…

Basting Spray

I have to confess that I had never heard of basting spray until one of my FB followers told me about it when I complained about hating the layering part of quilting. But it sounded so intriguing that I took my JoAnn’s coupon down to the store the next day and bought me a bottle…

First lesson learned: I am glad I laid down a vinyl tablecloth. I wish I had thought to pin it down before I started. :o(

It was a WHOLE LOT FASTER than the traditional pinning but I will probably need a bit more practice before I have it down.

 I have to say that I was glad to have an easier way to layer it together because I had put a little more work into quilting this one than I have been lately. I normally have just been going to the “stitch in the ditch” method.

 

I really like the way it turned out!

 

Simple Baby Quilt

I haven’t quilted in what seems like forever! When a couple at church had their baby on Friday, I new exactly what project to work on at our Ladies’ Craft Day on Saturday! I made a stop at the fabric store, got onto my quilting board on Pinterest and found this cute and simple quilt pattern from Two Little Banshees.

All you need is 6 fat quarters, fabric for backing and binding, and some batting.

I was going to just “stitch in the ditch” but I decided I liked quilting an inside border in each block better.

Here’s how it turned out…

I love the way the brown quilting makes the blocks pop!

  

I chose a coordinating stripe for the back

I can’t wait to go and see the baby and take him his new quilt!

Victorian Baby Set

I just finished this baby set. My sister Amy did all the gorgeous crocheted edging on the quilt I made and I made the bibs and burp pads to match.

They turned out beautiful! Thanks so much Amy!

Owl Baby

I had a little bit of extra fabric, the stuff I forgot to use in the quilt and some extra quilt squares, from the owl quilt. I loved it so much that I just had to do something with it. So I made a burp pad and two little bibs. It actually makes a pretty cute ensemble..

Cute As A Bug Onesie

Here is what I made last week to put on Etsy, but I decided not to. I am not sure what I think of it. But I got another item done and that's something. :o)

Flower Onesie

My sister Theresa made a New Year's resolution to post one new item to Etsy each week. I decided that sounded like a worthy goal, but mine might end up more like "an average of one a week".

But, here is my first one of the year...

I bought these newborn onesies and appliqued this red flannel flower on it and put a button in the middle. I also attached a hand-crocheted (by Amy, my sister) flower to the back. Also with a button in the middle.

I think it turned out pretty cute! Thanks for the great idea Sonja!

Baby On The Go

I started a quilt today using the "Going On 20" pattern. I modified it to have smaller blocks, but I think this one will turn out ok.

I love the browns and blues! (the brown is not as red as it seems in the picture)

Saying Goodbye

Yesterday I sold two more things on our Etsy store! Yeah! And it wasn't to someone I am related to or a friend (which I like so much better). I feel safe selling to people I know. They've seen my stuff and they like it because they are so nice.

But selling stuff to strangers is scary. What if they don't like it? What if it gets lost in the mail?...

I try to package my things in cute little ways with tags and ribbons and fancy Martha Stewart twine. My sister's store has gotten comments on how nicely packaged their stuff is. (they have really cute stuff by the way at Doormouse Designs) I want people to be excited when their things come in the mail.

I actually don't feel sad saying goodbye to the things I make because that's why I love making them, to give them to others. It's what makes it fun!

So, it's off to the post office and on to the east coast for my Cute as a Bug Quilt and Flowered Denim Bag...
