Puffy Jar Lids

We got several jars of applesauce for Christmas from my husband’s aunt. Her lids were so nice, with just the perfect amount of “puff” to them.

I finally opened a jar on Sunday and discovered how she did it…

Round cotton cosmetic puffs. They are just the right size to sit on top of a wide-mouth canning jar lid!

Then cut out a 4-inch circle of fabric and lay it on top of the pads…

Screw on the band and you’re done! Super easy!!! Thanks for the great idea, Cyndi! 

Owl Block Quilt

I’ve had this fabric in my stash for quite a while just waiting for the perfect project… I finally made it! Simple block pattern, framed in brown, simple straight line quilting. Just what it needed!

I love the mod 70’s look to it!

I quilted it by stitching in the ditch and making 1-inch rows in the solid blocks

This is the coordinating panel that I made into a wall hanging…

Adds just a splash of color to our unfinished entryway… Think how great it will look when the entry is done!!!

Garden Markers

I’ve had this idea rolling around in my head for a while now. After a few trials on the sealant and finding the perfect pictures, I made a final product…

I LOVE them!!! They are just exactly what I wanted for my garden this year! I am going to try to make a whole bunch of them and see if I can sell some???

 In case anyone is wondering… I know these aren’t radishes. I just put it in the strawberry patch for the picture! :o)

Clothespin Bag

My mom and I saw the cutest clothespin bag while at Cannon Beach last week. I liked it so much that I decided to see if I could recreate it myself…

It worked great! It’s the perfect size and I love the fabric and now I have TONS of ideas for other ones!!!

 I love the little flowers I got at the Wal-Mart after Christmas sale for 50 cents a package!!! (I’m glad I remembered I had them!)I hung it up and took pics before I sewed the side seams and the smallest hanger I had was still too big 

The only problem is that it is too small for any of the hangers I have. I really like the size it is and I really wouldn’t want it big enough to accommodate a bigger hanger. Maybe I need to see if I can find someone who had baby-sized hangers???

Now I just have to decide which one to make next…

Girls' Nite Out- Makin Soap

We had a girls' night at our church on Friday night and we made soaps. My friend Kate came up to help us make castille soap (olive oil) in the crockpot and I bought some melt-and-pour glycerin soaps from Michaels.

The olive oil soap turned out lovely! We made a batch of plain soap and a batch of lemongrass. By the way, lemongrass is a wonderful fragrance and an inexpensive essential oil.

Unfortunately, the melt-and-pour was a disaster! I chose the fancier Natural olive oil and goat milk bases rather than the basic ones. They even had a suspension formula so that your additives wouldn't all sink to the bottom of your soaps. Well, they could not have sunk to the bottom because the soap set up before you even had them added.

Although it didn't go as planned, we still had a great time! But it also meant I didn't take any pictures. :o(
