Lunch Bags

I bought some ripstop nylon for a project I wanted to try and it turned out to be a total failure. Since I had to think of something else to do with it, I decided to join it with another failed project and see what happened.

The new project was a success! The sandwich wraps turned out great! But it really needed something more…

So then I took a purse pattern and modified it a bit to become a lunch bag.

Then with the little piece of scrap that was left over, I made a snack bag.

The result… a lunch bag that is perfect for a busy day of running errands or a picnic lunch at the park!

Denim Bandana Quilt

I finally finished it! I really don’t like doing the binding and there were so many other projects distracting me… But now it’s done and I love it! It is such a nice heavy quilt that reminds me of rolling green hills with grazing horses and bluegrass music. It makes me want to sit in the backyard in the sun and read a Larry McMurtry novel.

While that little daydream may not ever happen, I do have plans for my little quilt. It will make a great place to sit this summer while watching my guys play Ultimate Frisbee at Bible Camp or rocking out at Creation Fest!

Shopping Bag Fabric

JoAnn’s has a new fabric made just for making shopping bags. It’s kind of a cross between paper and fabric. It’s easy to work with and keeps it’s shape nicely when it’s done.

I think it would make a nice beach bag because it would dry quickly.

If only it came in more prints…

Sunday School Quilts

Since January the kids in my Sunday School class made a quilt square for every Bible story we learned about in class.

Today was our last day of Sunday School, so last night I took all the squares and made them into quilts…

Toddler/Preschool Lunch or Snack Pack

I found this great sandwich wrap pattern thanks to my friend Sally. I modified it a bit, using some ripstop nylon for the liner. Then I took the extra fabric from the fat quarter and made a lined lunch bag and snack bag.

I love the pattern but am really sad that I made the front the upside down side of it. Ugh!

 

I love them! But next time, I’ll make the sandwich wrap smaller and the other things larger. A little one doesn’t eat that much sandwich…

Casserole Cozy

I have been thinking a lot lately about having a casserole cozy to carry my dishes to potluck every Sunday night for Family Nite. Then my friend Bonnie gave me a couple that her mom had made that I could use as a pattern. I was inspired!

I took one of the table runners? that I got from The Bins (Goodwill Outlet) and decided to try one of my own designs first.

It turned out pretty well! I love the bunny button on the  top! But the true test will be when I take it to church on Sunday night… What should I carry in it first???

Old Jeans Made New

What can you do with an old pair of jeans cut into 8 inch squares???

One, you can make them into little fabric “bowls”. They are fun and you can put just about anything you want into them. As long as it isn’t something wet… LOL  If you make them bigger, they make great napkin holders!

I made 7 of them last night, but I forgot to take pics before I gave them all away… :o)

You can also make them into little fabric “envelopes”. We use the envelope system for budgeting. But I was getting tired of having beat up old bank envelopes in my purse. So I made some new cute ones, with fun liners, buttons and velcro closures.
