Sweater Bag

My friend Sonja brought me this sweater vest that belonged to her grandpa and asked if I could make a bag out of it for her. I was a little nervous because I have never sewed with a literal knit before and wasn't sure if it would immediately begin to unravel once I started cutting. But I said I would try it and see how it went.

I forgot to take the "before" picture until I had
already cut it up. So I just pieced it back together on
the floor for the picture.

She also had some fabric that belonged to her grandma that she gave me for the lining. I also used it for the handles and a pocket on the front.

It actually went together more easily than I thought and I am pretty pleased with it! I think it turned out rather well!

Oops! Just turn your head and you can
see what it looks like up close
I love this square button I found for the pocket!
I really matches the square pattern of the fabric!
I also added two pockets inside
